Our Story
January 1, 1989 Frank and Lloyd Johnson founded Argon Industries.
January 2, 1989 Setting up at 17 Alfred Street Onehunga, they started manufacturing Able Concrete Mixers which is a well-known brand today.
November 2, 1991 The business was expanding, and Frank and Lloyd needed additional space. They relocated to 59 Galway Street, Onehunga.
May 3, 1992 Begley Industries is purchased, marking the beginning of Able Begley electric motors (formally Email Motors)
January 11, 1994 The Auckland Water crisis hit and Argon Industries started selling water pumps to meet market demand.
October 6, 1999 The distribution agency for Fasco Motors acquired (Formally Brook Crompton Betts Motors)
August 4, 2002 The agency for Sealand Pumps purchased from Levingston Bros (Letaba) and added to the ever-growing range of premium brands.
August 6, 2002 The agency for the well-known brand of Wellmate Tanks is acquired.
January 6, 2003 Frank Johnson steps down after many years in the industry, and Gilbert Johnson steps up into the new partnership.
March 5, 2006 Argon Industries purchase Hindin Marquip’s Pump division and adds this to their swelling portfolio of products.
May 12, 2008 Business growth demands additional warehousing and office space results in being relocated to 41 Church Street, Onehunga.
March 4, 2010 Another string to their bow with the distribution agreement for Onga Pumps acquired.
July 5, 2012 The brand Mosswyn Air is born and rapidly develops into the well-known brand it is today.
September 3, 2014 The EBMPapst agency is secured, giving additional depth of range to the fans and blowers product line.
January 6, 2015 The keystone brand, Davies Pumps is purchased from Onga, along with the affiliated product lines.
January 2, 2016 Argon Distributors Ltd formed with Lloyd & Gilbert Johnson as Directors.
March 3, 2018 Strong business growth demands even more space! Once again they relocate, this time to the current premises in 7 Monier Place, Mt Wellington.
August 1, 2018 Trade Showroom building and fit-out is completed and opens to the trade.
January 10, 2020 The team number grows to 14
